Practical video guide
Free offline video converter for simple jobs
Convert MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, and short GIFs with no account, subscription, or uploads.
The short answer
Use Clip Squeezer when a file has the wrong ending for the app or website you need, and you do not want to upload it to a converter.
Clip Squeezer creates a new file and leaves your original untouched.
Why this happens
Clip Squeezer uses FFmpeg on your computer to inspect the file and create the type you choose. When the picture and sound already fit, it can copy them unchanged. Otherwise it makes a compatible version for you.
What should I choose?
MP4
Choose this by default for broad compatibility.
MOV, MKV, or WebM
Choose one only when your editor, website, or workflow specifically asks for it.
GIF
Choose this for a short silent loop, not for an ordinary video with sound.
Do it with Clip Squeezer
- 1
Install the free open-source desktop app.
- 2
Add a video and choose Convert.
- 3
Choose MP4 when you are unsure, or the specific format requested by your destination.
- 4
Read the message explaining whether the file can be copied unchanged, then save and test the result.
Check the new file
Open the new file in the destination app and play it to the end. Conversion is successful only when the place that rejected the original accepts the new one.
Common questions
Why does the app sometimes say “No quality change”?
The existing picture and sound already suit the new file type, so Clip Squeezer can copy them unchanged.
Does offline mean there is no file-size limit?
There is no upload cap. You still need enough free disk space for the source, temporary work, and new file.
